Oil & Gas Landfill Project

Geography: Central Alberta
Industry: Class II Municipal Landfill
Materials: Geosynthetic Clay Liner (GCL), 60 mil Smooth and Textured HDPE Liner, Geotextiles, Geo-Composite, Leachate Collection Piping
Duration: 4 weeks

Project Description

This HDPE/GCL composite liner system required the installation crew to be competent with both products.   ECI recommended products for this project that met the project performance requirements while offering cost savings to the Owner. The project was awarded to an experienced earthworks General Contractor(GC) that was inexperienced with landfill construction while ECI was selected to work as the liner installation subcontractor. ECI worked closely and cooperatively with the GC and developed a strong and cooperative relationship which resulted in exceptional team execution.

Outcome

ECI completed the project safely, on schedule, on budget, and with exceptional quality.

lessons learned

Value-added solutions are often available that will reduce the capital cost of a project without compromising the safety, quality, and/or long-term performance of geosynthetic containment systems.   Relying on ECI’s engineering specialists during facility design, material selection, and construction guarantees a best value containment system that doesn’t leak.
